Spring Is on the Horizon: 3 Tips

Winter is officially more than halfway over, and spring is just around the corner. You may be looking forward to warmer weather and being outside more. But before we switch over to air conditioning, there are some steps you can take to prepare your HVAC system and your home for warmer temperatures.

If you find that you need services for HVAC in Winder, GA, you can give our team a call to schedule an appointment. In the meantime, you can keep reading for our top three spring tips to get your home and HVAC system prepared for the spring season.

Check the Indoor Unit

It is important to check the indoor portion of your HVAC unit whether you have an air conditioner or a heat pump. If you have a heat pump, it has been operating all winter long and will also act as your air conditioner in the summer. Springtime is a good opportunity to check the indoor unit thoroughly ahead of switching over to cooling mode.

Look at the air filter and make sure it is being changed in a timely manner. Some filters are rated to last for one month, while others can last for three months. You always want to make sure you’re changing air filters out on time so they don’t get clogged and block airflow into your air conditioner or heat pump.

You can also pour vinegar into the condensate drain line to make sure it is clean and clear for the coming spring season. As you complete these tasks, you want to complete a visual inspection of the indoor unit. If you notice any signs of damage or causes for concern, you might want to schedule a service appointment. Damage on the outside of the unit can often mean that there is also damage to the inside of the unit.

Check the Outdoor Unit

When you look at the outdoor unit, make sure that it is free from any debris like leaves and branches. You also want to make sure that any yard decor or furniture is kept away from your air conditioner. Ideally, you want to have at least four feet of space all the way around your unit for adequate airflow. Just like your indoor unit, you want to bring any concerns to our attention so we can address problems sooner rather than later.

Schedule Professional Maintenance

Even if you don’t notice anything obviously wrong with your air conditioner or heat pump, it’s still a good idea to schedule a regular maintenance appointment. Preventative action is always better than waiting for something to go wrong and scheduling service then. You can often stay ahead of larger problems by addressing smaller ones now.

The best-case scenario is that your air conditioner is in excellent shape, and our team doesn’t have to do much by way of tuning up the system. But if there is a problem, we can identify and fix it now, so that you can rest easy all spring and summer long knowing that your air conditioner or heat pump is ready to keep your family cool and comfortable.
